Enhanced teacher effectiveness in pedagogy
ELECU partners with quality educators like Oxfam NOVIB, Forum for African Women Educationists-Uganda, LABE, Uganda National Association of Teachers’ Union to train teachers using the active learning approach. We work with school administrations to establish a culture of active learning in their schools. Hands on trainings is provided to enable teachers ably involve students in participatory learning for improved outcomes. As a result, teachers are more effectively teaching literacy and numeracy by applying participatory, inclusive and innovative child-friendly teaching approaches.
Classroom observations through the support supervision showed that teachers were able to use one or more participatory methods acquired during the training. Methods included role plays, discussions, group work, demonstrations among others. Teachers were able to develop low cost non book instructional materials/reading materials and established classroom reading corners.
